Quantum variational algorithms
Developing noise-resilient variational algorithms to run on first generation quantum computers.

Simulating quantum computers
Using high-performance, hardware-accelerated classical computers to simulate quantum computers.
- QuEST, a multithreaded, GPU-accelerated, distributed C/C++ simulator of quantum computers (Sci. Rep., Github, Site)
- QuESTlink, a Mathematica interface for QuEST with additional analytic, symbolic and visualisation facilities (Quant. Sci. Tech., Github, Site)
- Novel algorithms for efficient distributed simulation of quantum gates and channels (in preparation)
Simulating variational algorithms
Devising bespoke strategies for asymptotically faster classical simulation of quantum variational algorithms.
Postgraduate
Research conducted at Monash University, University of California San Diego (UCSD), Wolfram Research, Australian National University (ANU) and CSIRO Data61, 2016 - 2017. Additional work at Quantum Motion London 2020.
Machine learning
- Experimented with music composition and rendering using Google's wavenet (3min thesis)
- Explored using Mathematica's machine learning framework to predict quantum eigenstates (Github, Bio)
Quantum turbulence
- Proposed a novel experimental detection strategy of Onsager vortex clustering, and developed MATLAB simulations of quantum turbulence and vortex dynamics (Thesis)
Software architecture
- Developed Condorflux, a metric collection system to monitor usage of the Pacific Research Platform's supercomputing facilities (Wiki, Github, Proceedings)
- Created an ecosystem of AWS services for secure, automated, searchable data retention of Quantum Motion London experiment data
Undergraduate

Gravitational waves
- Investigated the feasibility of a novel, terrestrial, millihertz-gravitational wave detector under the co-chair of the stochastic analysis group at LIGO (Scavenged report draft, Logbook)
